How to Rank Higher in Google Business Listings AKA Google Places

Google offers a free business listing to small businesses at the top of most local search results pages. Local Google Advertising is what we're after when we talk about Google's local business listing center.

Anatomy of a Google search result page:

*Listings on the right side bar are paid advertisements, often called "sponsored links"

*The main body of a search result page are called the "organic" or "natural" search listings

*At the very top in a colored text box are also paid advertisements, sponsored links

*Above the organic listings are "Google Local Business Listings"

This wiki deals with only with the Local Business Listings

You will notice a map associated with each listing, this is because Google used the existing infrastructure of Google Maps to implement the free business listings. It's generally thought that Google offered this free service, and gave its location on a search result page prominence above the organic listings because of the popularity of Google's Adwords program.

Adwords is a PPC (pay per click) advertising system where keywords and keyword phrases are bid on in an auction like system. The immense popularity of Adwords priced smaller Mom n Pop stores out of the market due to the ever escalating costs of certain keywords. Google became fearful that it's search platform would be return search results of the "rich and famous" thus reflecting only what the rich and powerful wanted seen on Google search results.

How does Google determine which website should rank higher than another?

Google uses a computer program algorithm based on hundreds of factors as the vast size of the internet precludes any human capability of keeping the listings accurate or current. That algorithm is a closely guarded trade secret within Google. Search Engine Optimization Consultants learn what Google apparently likes and doesn't like from the observable behavior of search results.

Local Business Listings IS Googlemaps

Google Maps algorithm is different from the algorithm that anoints one site over another. It's also slower to update.

If your customers leave glowing reviews of your product or service on the link provided your site will climb in rank.

You are permitted up to 10 photos of your product or service, use as many of those slots as possible. Fill out as much information about your business as space allotted provides, being verbose is better than being succinct when it comes to Google Local Business Listings

Many small businesses get leads and interested inquiries from a local business listing even if they don't have a website url. Still other small businesses find it unnecessary to have their company listed anywhere other than the top local business listings. If your listing falls in ranking or is bumped out of it's spot by a newcomer and you find your company losing sales because of it, you may want to outsource your rankings management to a local search engine optimization firm.

The fees involved for a local business listing may be less than the fees for improving your company website's organic listing.

What Determines Rank?

Ever wonder why your companies listing in Google does OK in the main body of Google's search results page but is not in the top 10 of those pesky Google Local Business Listings?

Ultimately what you want is to be found in BOTH sets of listings, the net effect of which would be to drive home in your prospective customers Mind's Eye that Google apparently thinks pretty highly of your company if Google is displaying YOUR company listing in the Local Business Listings and in the Organic Search Rankings.

Well, people's perception and Google's reality are far, far apart.

Google didn't *pick* you to be #1 and your competitor to be #11

A computer program picked you over the hapless fella you compete with. A person did not visit your site, take notes, compare notes, make a decision, hear the belly aching and whining of the poor fool who got bumped off of his front page listed by a website that ranked better than his...

nope, an algorithm picked you over them.

Think about it... there are what? a Gazillion webpages already indexed in Google? And how many tens of thousands of new webpages being created as we speak? Some of those tens of thousands are being "generated" by a "bot".

There is no way on God's Green Earth a staff of humans could possibly keep up with that kind of volume. An algorithm did it. The robot that scours the Internet (in the SEO industry we call that "spidering") is titled GoogleBot

GoogleBot Can't Really *Read*

GoogleBot can NOT read... but it CAN count

Googlebot counts the words on your webpage, it counts the keywords and keyword phrases you use in your copy. Is y0ur company website a little light on copy? Too bad for you.

It matters little to Googlebot if the fancy flash graphic and dramatic digital photos depicting your most important product are... well the damn thing can't decipher a photo! but it CAN read text.

What ever makes your photos good, better or best and likewise your competitors photos crappy is subjective. Art is subjective, math is not.

Either the keywords are on your webpage (Prominently placed at the top of the page I hope) or the keyw0rds are not.

He who has the most keywords (elegantly, tactfully and deftly constructed with proper enough grammar for the spell checking programmed Googlebot to index).. Wins that coveted top spot!

But... the Google Local Business Listings are a different story. The algorithm that runs it is different.

What Google is looking for and rewards when it sees it for the organic search results page (the body of the page) is one thing. What Googlebot is looking to see in the Free Local Google Advertising Listings is quite another.

I'm not about to reveal the entire loophole in a "Google Secrets Revealed" post, not even for a hefty $1000 fee for an ebook (I'd do it for that price if it were ticket sales to a seminar and I got a couple dozen of you to buy $1000 tickets to eagerly learn how I do what it is I do) (that's in the works by the way)

Simple Home Improvement Idea: Vinyl Siding

If you've been looking for an easy way to completely transform the exterior of your home, look no further than vinyl siding. Vinyl Siding is an excellent way to spruce up your home's exterior, and this easy home improvement can dramatically increase the value of your home. There are many advantages to installing vinyl siding including saving you money and giving you a look you can be proud of for years to come.

Vinyl Siding is virtually maintenance-free due to its resilient nature. You don't even have to paint it -- a task most home owners dread! Vinyl siding sustains less environmental damage than wood or other siding alternatives, and it maintains a fresh look for years with very little cleaning.

If vinyl siding is installed properly with good insulation, it can mean lower heating bills in the following years. It is estimated that vinyl siding could save a homeowner hundreds of dollars in heating bills over the life of the product. Some manufacturers even guarantee savings up to 20 percent, which is an impressive reduction indeed.

Leaky walls can be a nightmare and can cause damage to your interior woodwork, possibly cause a health risk to your family in the form of growing mold and give your home a mildewy smell. Vinyl siding waterproofs the home and saves you the hassle of having to worry about water damage and checking for leaks.

Paint fades over time, leaving you no other option but to repaint often. But vinyl siding is fade resistant, requiring less maintenance on your part and an overall better look for your home. Vinyl siding also will not rot, peel, dent, or show scratches which means that you can enjoy a bright, clean-looking exterior every day for years. If it does get a bit dirty, you can power wash it with soap and water, a very easy and inexpensive process when compared to special treatments required for some other exteriors.

There are a huge variety of styles and colors to choose from in vinyl siding. Some sidings are bold and modern; others can make your home look authentically original with heritage designs that emulate old-style wood paneling. Siding also comes in as wide a range of colors as you can imagine, which means that you can give your home a totally new distinctive look, or simply restore some of its old charm.

Installing vinyl siding is a home improvement project that can really add value to your home. Because buyers need not worry about maintenance, cracking stucco, rotting wood, or any of the other hassles that come with alternative products, they are more likely to buy a home with vinyl siding. Many buyers specify that they want a home with vinyl siding when they are house-hunting, so installing vinyl siding can also give you an edge in the market.

Not only does vinyl siding bring with it all these benefits, but many manufacturers of vinyl siding will also offer a lifetime warranty on their product. Vinyl siding is so durable and easy to maintain, and manufacturers so sure of their product, that they offer replacements for any defects over the lifetime of the siding. This is an impressive commitment that shows the level of quality and performance you can expect from your vinyl siding.

When it comes to home improvement, vinyl siding is a great way to revamp old, tired exteriors without having to replace them board-by-board. It gives you a clean finish that works well with any style of home, whether modern or classic. You can save money, time and hassle over a lifetime with this simple switch. So put it on your home improvement to-do list, and enjoy the style and comfort that a home with vinyl siding provides.

Scar Removal - Try Home Remedies for Scars

This Article provides Information on most of the home Remedies for Scars which are especially recommended by users. First we will discuss about Scars.
A scar is the pinkish or brown patch of skin that grows in the place where you once had a wound or sore. They are areas of fibrous tissue that replace normal skin tissue after destruction of some of the dermis. A scar is thus the skin's natural way of repairing itself from injury. Most people have scars.

The word scar is derived from the Greek word eschara, meaning fireplace.

Every skin injury or wound heals with a scar. The appearance of a scar however depends on the type and extent of the wound, as well as how an individual's body heals.

Scar tissue is not similar to the tissue that it replaces and is usually of inferior quality. There is no hair growth on the scar tissue, and the skin there becomes less resistant to ultraviolet radiation.

How scarring occurs?
Scarring occur when the deep dermis layer of skin is damaged. The deeper the damage, the worse the scar.

Many skin scars are pale and leave a trace of the original injury that caused them. The time that a scar takes to form may range from a few days to, in some serious and rare cases, several years. Various treatments can speed up the process in serious cases.

To repair the damage, the body has to lay down new collagen tissues As the body cannot re-build the tissue exactly as it was, the scar tissue will have a different texture and quality than the surrounding normal tissue. An injury does not become a scar until the wound has completely healed.

Factors affecting scar formation -
Many factors affect the severity of scar formation, such as -

1) The size and depth of the wound.

2) Location of the injury on the body.

3) The blood supply to the area.

4) Age of the person

5) The thickness, type and colour of the person's skin.

6) The direction of the scar.

Once a scar forms, it is permanent. However, it may be made less visible or displaced surgically.

Can scars be completely removed?
There is no way to remove scars completely. However, a skilled surgeon can definitely improve the appearance of the scar by disguising it, relocating it, or minimizing its prominence.

Skin colour and type, age, and the size of the scar, are important factors that go on to decide the outcome of a surgery to remove a scar.

Different types of scars respond to different plastic surgery techniques. Timing of the surgery is another important factor. The younger the scar, the more satisfactory is the result of the surgery. Therefore, if you want to have your scar removed, do not wait, until as advised by the doctor.

Types of scars -
1. Keloid scars:

Keloids are itchy clusters of scar tissue that grow beyond the edges of the wound or incision. They occur when the body continues to produce the tough, fibrous protein known as collagen after a wound has healed. They are more common in dark-skinned people.
Keloids are treated by injecting a steroid medication directly into the scar tissue to reduce redness and itching. However, the disheartening fact is that keloids have a tendency to recur, sometimes even larger than before, thus requiring repeated procedures.

2. Hypertrophic scars:

These scars, unlike keloids, remain within the limits of the original wound. They often improve on their own, though it may take a year or more. They may also require steroid applications or in some cases may have to be improved surgically.

3. Contractures:

Burns or other injuries that result in the loss of a large area of skin may form a scar that pulls the edges of the skin together, a process called contraction.
Improving a contracture usually involves cutting out the scar and replacing it with a skin graft or a flap. In some cases, a procedure known as Z-plasty may be used.

4. Facial scars:

Mostly, facial scars are cut out and closed with tiny stitches, leaving a less noticeable scar. Some facial scars can be softened using a technique called dermabrasion, that leaves a smoother surface to the skin, but does not completely erase the scar.

Scar treatment procedures -
No scar can be completely removed. They will always leave behind a trace, but a number of procedures can improve their appearance.

Surgery -

Surgery will never completely remove a scar but can be used to alter its location or shape to make it less noticeable. Surgery is at times necessary to remove a scar on skin near a joint where it restricts movement, but it will leave another scar.

Laser surgery & resurfacing -

The use of laser on scars is still on an experimental phase, as the safety or effectiveness has not yet been proven.

Steroid injections -

A course of steroid injections into the scar may help flatten and soften the appearance of keloid or hypertrophic scars.

Z-Plasty -

Z-plasty is a surgical technique used to relocate a scar so that it more closely matches to the natural creases of the skin, where it will be less noticeable. In this procedure, the old scar is removed and new incisions are made on each side, creating small triangular flaps of skin.

Skin grafting -

Grafting involves the transfer of skin from a healthy part of the body to cover the injured area. All grafts leave some scarring at the donor and recipient sites.

Make sure that your expectations from any surgery are realistic. You cannot expect that old scars will completely disappear; however, they will always turn flatter, paler and softer.

Home Remedies for Scars:
* A mixture of sandalwood paste and black gram paste helps reduce the intensity of scars if started early. This is effective Home Remedy for Scars:

* Rubbing your skin with ice cubes helps to tighten the skin.

* You can use cucumber and lemon juice on your scars. This is another good Home Remedy for Scars

* Vitamin E oil when applied on the scarred skin may do wonders for your skin.

* To prevent deepening of the scars, apply aloe vera gel, cod liver oil or vitamin E oil.

* Applying cocoa butter is also a good remedy in getting rid of the scars. This is also effective home Remedy for Scars

Government Involvement Has Stabilized the Mortgage Industry

High foreclosure rates across the country as well as a faltering financial sector has dictated government involvement in the mortgage industry. This involvement has facilitated growth in both residential and commercial real estate such as Minnesota real estate and has created more favourable and secure lending situations for financial institutions. All this has been done in order to stimulate economic growth in the United States.

The growth of the federal government's involvement since the onset of the mortgage crisis has created a situation in which the government has become a substantial pillar to the survival of the mortgage industry. Government has taken on much of the risk formerly assumed by lenders and has essentially become the mortgage market. With the power to set the terms that allow mortgages to be approved and their ability to own a proprietary share of many companies this government involvement now has the taxpayer shouldering a substantial part of the risk associated with lending in an uncertain economy.

The Federal National Mortgage Association and the Federal home Mortgage Corporation have operated as government sponsored enterprises. These institutions are better known publicly as Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. Although both institutions report to their shareholders they are protected financially and supported by the federal government. These safeguards include a line of credit through the U.S. Treasury, an exemption from state and local income taxes as well as an exemption from the Securities Exchange Commission (SEC) oversight. Their history has shaped the mortgage industry since the 1930's and continued support by the federal government is essential to restabilising the economy and the housing markets across the U.S..

Fannie Mae was created in 1938 as President Franklin Roosevelt's New Deal. The creation of the Federal National Mortgage Association was to ensure that mortgages were made more available to lower income families and to facilitate liquidity in the mortgage market. In 1968 the federal government converted Fannie Mae to a shareholder owned corporation in order to remove its transaction from the federal balance sheet. In order to create a competing the federal government formed the Federal home Loan Mortgage Association in 1970. The idea was that competition would create a more robust secondary mortgage market.

The way Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae work is that they buy loans from approved mortgage sellers. These loans are traded either for cash or mortgage backed securities which guarantee payment of principal and interest. Mortgage sellers in turn can either sell or keep the securities. These companies also bundle mortgage backed securities from their own portfolios to investors in the secondary mortgage market. In order for Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac to guarantee their mortgage backed securities they set the lending terms and guidelines that determine which loan applications can be accepted for purchase. To simplify the role of Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae is to say that they provide financial institutions with the money to provide new loans.

The 2007 sub-prime mortgage crisis found a lot of low income borrowers some with poor credit were unable to pay their mortgages. Almost 80% of mortgages issued to the sub-prime borrowers were adjustable rate mortgages (ARM). With home prices peaking in 2006 home prices began to decline. Values continue to decline as these high risk borrowers could no longer afford their homes due to steep increases in the payments of ARM mortgages.

This caused an explosion of foreclosures across the country. Again the situation was compounded by problems with the Auto industry and the failure of economic icons such as Bearr Stearns, The Goldman Sachs Group, Citigroup Inc. and even Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae. Home prices accelerated their descent as foreclosures increases, jobs were lost and the countries financial situation teetered on the brink of disaster.

As a result lenders began to employ much stricter standards for loans. A shell shocked lending industry was not equipped to respond to financial failures of this level and they essentially shut off the flow of money available for loans. The federal government was forced to step in to bolster confidence. The Treasury Department and Federal Reserve were given the authority to grant access to low-interest loans and removed the prohibition on the Federal Reserve to purchase stock in Government Sponsored Enterprises. Despite these efforts the economy continued on its downward trajectory.

Currently government involvement has extended programs to reinvigorate the mortgage industry. There are no longer institutions offering mortgage terms that do not require a down payment. But federal programs are in place that assist with down payments for lower income families as low as 3% of the home's value. Government backed mortgage insurance has made this possible by insuring that lenders are protected in the event of default on loans with limited equity in the home.

The federally backed Hope For Homeowners program offers a glimmer of hope for struggling homeowners hoping to avoid foreclosure. The program allows homeowners to refinance their home at more favourable terms with a fixed rate mortgage backed by the Federal Housing Administration (FHA). Lenders have to agree however to take a substantial loss on their original loan but at least are guaranteed a partial pay off and avoid costly foreclosure proceedings.

The federal government has also extend tax credits to home buyers in order to stimulate growth. The Worker, Homeownership and Business Assistance Act of 2009 has extended a valuable income tax credit. This incentive has stimulated the housing industry and brought some hope back to struggling home sellers languishing in struggling markets.

The Home Affordable Refinance Program is designed provide more affordable loans to existing mortgage holders in good standing. By providing Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae guaranteed mortgages borrowers can refinance at a more affordable monthly payment. It is hoped that this program will save 3 to 4 million families from avoidable foreclosure.

Federal programs now operate as the only means to provide a stable loan marketplace. Without federal involvement corporate and personal finances would be crippled by the inability to obtain affordable, secure and stable financing. Programs such as Asset Guarantee Program, the Home Affordable Modification Program and the Public-Private Investment Program have bridged a period filled with financial uncertainty and have allowed provided much needed support to an industry crippled by its own practices.

The growth of the federal government's involvement since the onset of the mortgage crisis has created a situation where the government no longer just supports the mortgage market but rather has become a substantial pillar to the survival of the mortgage industry. The government has taken on much of the risk that was previously assumed by lenders and has essentially become the mortgage market. They have the power to set the terms that allow mortgages to be approved and they own a proprietary share of many companies that are major players in the mortgage industry. This government involvement now has the taxpayer shouldering a substantial part of the risk associated with lending in an uncertain economy.

Someday the federal government will be able to limit its involvement in the mortgage industry. But for the time being their support is necessary to reinvigorate the economy and stimulate growth in both residential and commercial real estate sector. You can know more at www.agentsranking.com

Spain's capital Madrid

Madrid is the capital of Spain and of Madrid province. It lies in central Spain on the Manzanares River and is almost in the exact geographic centre of the country. It is the focus of its own autonomous region.

Madrid is relatively young when compared to the other great Spanish cities such as Seville and Valencia and so it lacks the traditions of the ancient Andalusian and Castilian towns. It lies on a vast open plateau and is subject to extremes of temperature, the daily variation is sometimes 22°C. The locals sum up their climate as nine months of winter and another 3 months of hell.

It is the nation's chief transportation and administrative centre. Its commercial and industrial life developed very rapidly after the 1890s and today it is nation's chief transportation and administrative centre, rivalled only by Barcelona. Besides it's many manufacturing industries, Madrid are foremost as a banking, education, printing, publishing, tourism, and film production centre.

The general aspect of Madrid is modern, with boulevards and fashionable shopping areas, but the old quarters have picturesque streets. In the heart of the city is the Plaza Mayor, a 17th century square, built in the style of Juan de Herrera. Madrid's loveliest gardens can found the Buen Retiro Park which opened in 1631. At the weekends street performers including musicians, tarot readers and puppet shows for children play in the park but this does bring in the crowds. Other landmarks include, El Pacicio Real, the huge and very opulent royal palace. A restored 1850 opera house and the imposing 19th-century building containing the national library, the national archives, and an archaeological museum. Also noteworthy is the modern University City, which transferred from the town of Alcalá de Henares in 1836.

The best area in Madrid for bars and clubs is Malasana. If you arrive before 1 am you'll find the night yet to get underway. Cool Ballroom is probably numero uno in the city. And don't forget to end the night with the traditional Chocolate con Churrus. Madrid, as you would expect has numerous eating-place but try Casa Mingo in the Rio Manzanares. The house speciality is a whole roast chicken served with a salad and a bottle of cider. On Sunday you should head for, along with most of the population of the city, the Embajadores for the flea market on El Rastro. Most of what is on sale is junk but there are a few stalls with genuine antiques. If you're a football fan try to obtain tickets for one of Real Madrid's home games at the spectacular Santiago Bernabeu Stadium. Here you will see the famous "galacticos" perform, or as is more usual under perform.

Madrid places host to three superb art museums, the Prado, which houses one of the finest art collections in the world including works by Veleazquez, Domenikos Theotokopoulos, Goya, Murillo, Ribera, Hieronymus Bosch, Rubens, Botticelli, Mantegna, Titian, Rembrandt, Mengs, Poussin and Gainsborough. The Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum is housed in the renovated Villahermosa Palace and is home to one of the most wide ranging private collections of European art. The Queen Sofia Museum of modern art includes turn of the 20th century Catalan Modernism, Juan Gris' cubism, the bronze sculptures of Pablo Gargallo, some 20 canvases by Salvador Dali and Picasso's work condemning the German bombing the town of Guernica in the Basque country during the Spanish civil war. Also worth a visit is the Monasterio de las Descalzas Reales which holds an interesting collection of treasures.

Madrid was first mentioned in the 10th century as a fortress of the Moors. Alfonso VI of Castile drove them out in 1083. The Cortes of Castile met in Madrid several times, and Ferdinand and Isabella as well as Emperor Charles V often resided there, but Madrid became the capital of Spain only in 1561, in the reign of Philip II. The city developed slowly at first, but it expanded rapidly in the 18th century under the Bourbon kings. The royal palace and the Prado date from that period. A popular uprising against the French took place at Madrid on May 2, 1808 at the beginning of the Peninsular War. A fierce battle was fought in the city's central square, the Puerta del Sol. In reprisal, hundreds of citizens were shot at night along the Prado promenade. Goya immortalized the events of that day with two of his most celebrated paintings, both can be seen in the Prado gallery. Madrid again played a heroic role in the Spanish civil war, when, under the command of General José Miaja, it resisted 29 months of siege by the Franco's Nationalist forces, suffering several bombardments and air attacks. It finally surrendered in late March 1939 effectively bringing the conflict to an end.

Alcalá de Henares lies some 30 km to the east of Madrid, on the Henares River. Once surrounded by wheat fields, the building of a major road has drawn it into the suburban orbit of Madrid. Chemicals, plastics, electrical appliances, leather, and china are produced in the town. Among the landmarks are a Gothic collegiate church and the former archiepiscopal palace. The new University of Alcalá de Henares was founded in 1977.

The town was called Complutum in Roman times. It is famous as the former seat of a great university founded in 1508 which subsequently transferred to Madrid in 1836. Also as the birthplace of Cervantes, Ferdinand I and Katherine of Aragon. And lastly as the scene of the Cortes in which Alfonso XI promulgated the Ordenamiento de Alcalá. The Spanish civil war saw the town severely damaged.

Other towns within the autonomous region of Madrid include Toledo, which preceded Madrid as the Spanish capital. Avila, whose old walls remain largely intact and a walk along them provides superb views of the town within and the harsh Castilian landscape outside. Segovia and it's ancient aqueduct which is an example of Roman engineering at it's very best and Guadalajara.

Piggy Banks - A Short History

After selling piggy banks for more than a year it suddenly dawned on me - why are they called piggy banks? What does a pig have to do with saving money? A pig would be the last animal you’d associate with saving! Why not bunny banks or doggy banks and for that matter, why an animal at all?! Additionally, piggy bank sounds like it was intended as a child’s item as how many adults would use a piggy bank for collecting change?

To satisfy my curiosity I did some piggy bank research and have learned some interesting things and thought I would share them with you.

As you well know, many, particularly ceramic, piggy banks do not have an opening to remove the money. Now why is that? The theory goes that this is to serve as a lesson in finances for children. The piggy bank enables a child to save his money but forces him to justify its spending as in order to access the money he needs to break his piggy bank. This lesson seems to have been forgotten by many adults! Maybe we should keep a piggy bank in our front foyer and deposit our loose change as we come home each day! I digress…

The question still remains, why is it called a piggy bank and why is it in the shape of a pig?

One theory is that just as it was common to purchase a piglet and feed it with scraps until it was finally ready for slaughter, so too we feed our piggy bank with small change (“scraps”) until it is full and then break it to reap the rewards of our investment. According to this, the piggy bank would also be appropriate for adults.

A more popular theory is that, in fact, the original piggy bank had absolutely nothing to do with a pig! In the Middle Ages, when metal was expensive, an inexpensive, orange colored clay, called pygg, was the common media for making pots and jars, and was referred to as a pygg jar, for example. One of these jars was often used to hold coins. Eventually, the pygg jar or pygg bank used for coins, surely accidentally, became known as a pig bank or piggy bank! The general consensus is that this evolution transpired a few hundred years ago in England when crafters were hired to make pygg banks and not being familiar with pygg they made pig shaped banks.

The oldest recorded piggy bank in the shape of a pig is claimed to be 1500 years old from Indonesia. If this is so, it precedes the pygg theory by around 1000 years! Perhaps there was some connection between the pig and saving money in that culture but it seems to have not influenced Western culture, where the modern piggy bank only evolved from pygg clay just a few hundred years ago.

Understandably, the piggy bank is not popular in all cultures. The pig is considered an impure animal according to the Old Testament and hence is not owned, eaten nor benefited by Jews. Similarly, Islam forbids the eating of pork due to being impure. Hence, one would not expect to find too many piggy banks in Muslim countries and in homes of those of the Jewish and Muslim faiths.

The modern piggy bank, whether made from ceramics, plastic, beads or metal, has been a very popular collector’s item and gift for children due to its appealing and humorous appearance. In addition to the smile or chuckle we experience each time we drop some change into our piggy bank let us be reminded by the lesson it teaches us!

By the way, the famous phrase, “break the bank”, has nothing to do with the piggy bank!

Electronic Scoreboards use high brightness LEDs for maximum visibility and definition with a full-color spectrum, increased brightness and a great choice of designs.

In LED technology, display modules comprising red, green and blue LEDs make up each pixel. Each module can have between three or four LEDs in it (one red, one green and one blue) or dozens of them and typically range from 4mm to 4cm (about 0.2in to 1.5in). To build a scoreboard using LED technology, thousands of these LED modules are integrated in a rectangular grid. The size of the screen depends on the size of the LED modules.

Excellent technology, outstanding visual clarity, easy set up and use are the aspects which attracts most sports events to install which the event is being executed.

A History of Names

The history of names is so ancient that no one know quite where it began. Oral and written history both profess people having names. Earlier names seem to have some sort of meaning, usually descriptive. In contrast, today's names are usually given based upon their popularity or pleasing sounds.

Early in prehistory, descriptive names were used continuously. Eventually, a collection of names were formed that identified that particular culture. Today, the meanings of many names are not known, due to the aging history of a name. As time goes on, languages change, and words that formed the original name are often unrecognizable.

The rise in Christianity transformed the history of names. Christians were encouraged to name their children after saints and martyrs of the church. Because of this influence, we now see names such as Mary, Martha, Joseph, James, Mark, Paul, and John prominent among many cultures. These names were spread by early missionaries throughout Europe.

By the Middle Ages, Christian names were seen predominantly. Each culture had its collection of names, which were a combination of native and early Christian names. However, the naming pools continued to evolve. Modern names often bear little resemblance of their predecessors. Surprisingly, the early Christian names changed very little in comparison.

Bynames are additional identifiers used to distinguish two people with the same name. From these bynames, surnames were developed. Surnames are a comparatively recent development. These usually started out as being specific to a person and then became inherited from father to son. This was a common practice between the twelfth and sixteenth century. This practice was adopted first by the aristocracy and later on by the peasants. Bynames came in various types. The patronymic referred to the father, a matronymic referred to the mother, a locative or toponymic indicated where a person was from, and an epithet described the person in some way ( such as their occupation, office, or status).

Patronymics are common in almost all European cultures. For example, a man named Ivan whose father's name is Nikolay would be know as Ivan Nikolayevich or “Ivan, son of Nikolay”. In Gaelic, the prefix “Mac” is used to form a patronym. An example would be “MacKenzie” - son of Kenneth. The use of the matronymic is much less common.

Common occupational names included Baker, Shepherd, Carpenter, and Wright.

The Romans adopted surnames as far back as 2,000 years ago, while other areas of the world were slower to begin using surnames. However, by the Middle Ages, they were used regularly, first by the nobility and then by the gentry. Following the fall of the Roman Empire, Ireland was one of the first countries to adopt surnames. These Irish surnames are found as early as the tenth century.

Today's names are influenced by celebrities, common popular names, and biblical names.

Unemployed and I need a job today - 3 best work at home job review

Unemployed and I need a job today - 3 best work at home job review
Unemployed and I need a job today. Are those the words that come out of your mouth? I know they were the words that came out of mine in 2009. I want to say that you are the luckiest person to be reading this. Hi my name is Scott and I was let go from my job in January 2009. The good thing is I knew it was going to happen about a month or so before it actually did. So I started looking for a new job! If you are reading this you know that there are no jobs out there right now. The only thing out there is a growing unemployment rate. Well the search is over. Please read this very carefully and I will let you know how I am surviving and paying my bills from home.

MY WHOLE REASON FOR WRITING THIS IS TO HELP THE PERSON LIKE MYSELF WHO IS LOOKING AT BILLS AND NEEDS TO PAY THEM.

First a little about my situation I am going through. I am married with no children, got laid off at the first of the year 2009 and just started looking for a job. I need a job to pay the following bills. Here is my breakdown on those bills. Mortgage $2400, 1st Car payment $300, 2nd Car payment $400, Food $ 400, Utility bills $500 and the extras $200 a month. So what is the grand total it is $4200 a month. I just want to let you know that my wife actually brings home $1800 a month. I am still short a bunch as you can tell. Well I can say that I am making it right now plus more.

I did have to get there by myself because my wife was not supportive in the whole work from home idea. I had to do the research that I am sharing with you and start the working from home process on my own. I did this all behind her back. I have now since told her what I have been doing and shared with her that we are making money on it. Go thing the 3 items below were that easy to use and make money on RIGHT!

I have searched and searched for something that I can do at home. I have wasted a few dollars on the way but I did it and found 3 things that making me money every day. I am sharing these with you to so you don't have to stress and go through what I had to. The 3 items that I came across are now helping me make an income of $190 a day all in less than one month and most of it is free to do. Yes it cost me to get them but it was well worth that investment.

Here is what I make on each. Item 1 makes me $60 dollars a day, Item 2 makes $50 a day, and item 3 makes me $100 a day. Grand total of all these is the $190 a day like I stated before. I would give each of these items an A+ or A++. The following are the items and a brief description.

Item 1 http://scottlhall.nomonkeybz.hop.clickbank.net

This is the one that makes me $60 dollars a day. It has a strange name but it is not a joke. It has several ways to make money and so far they have all worked. I focus on just a few things in this that have no cost associations (free) and they works great. This is well worth the purchase and it walks you through how to do all the jobs with either a video or in simple text. I give this an A+ if I had to grade it.

Item 2 http://scottlhall.copyprofit.hop.clickbank.net

This is the one that makes me $50 dollars a day. It is so easy. This one all you have to do is copy what they give you and that is it. This item gives you videos that show you exactly what to do and how to do it step by step. It also gives you text information that makes the copying that much easier. I plan on making a lot more money with this product. I give this and A++ because of it being so easy. I made money in 24hrs with this one.

Item 3 http://www.dropship-business.com/index.html?aid=267613

This is the one that will take a little work but not much if you know how to work on ebay. If you know how to work on ebay then you will have mo problem with this because it generates the ebay listing for you. I recommend just getting the ebay package and not the whole web site thing. I generate $100 a day and the only work I have to do is put in the shipping address of the person that bought the product off ebay. I get paid through paypal and it lets you pay through paypal as well. This results in no out of pocket expenses for you. I give this an A+ just because it takes a little more time than the others on a daily basis.

In conclusion I would say to get all 3 of these so you don't just have to rely on one. I am still unemployed and not working for some big company. I am however making money from home in just one month that's the truth. You can too because all 3 of these are so easy to use. Remember this is your lucky day better save this to your favorites and take advantage of this day.

If you don't mind please post a comment on my Blog site.

Healing Hands - Amazing Ministry out of Knoxville Spans Several Continents

The ministries of Dr. Pete Sulack are called Matthew 10 Ministries they are not limited to Dr. Pete's office or Knoxville Tennessee but span several continents and could be deemed one of the brightest lights to shine in the nation of India in this generation.

In the tenth chapter of Matthews gospel the twelve apostles are sent forth to preach and teach in the surrounding towns. They are told to preach, heal, cast out devils and if necessary raise the dead. That is exactly what they did. After hearing the call Dr. Pete Sulack decided to do exactly the same thing. He and his team have been to Africa, eastern and Middle Eastern nations as well as South America.

In a phone interview with Dr. Pete he paused to ask me if he could pray first before answering any of my questions. His prayer was powerful and thought provoking. Mostly it was a personal appeal for God's guidance spoken by a man who is only speaking upward and not horizontally. Dr. Pete was speaking to God alone and I could tell that he had "been with Jesus" (Acts 4:13)

Answering a call from God Dr. Pete and his family migrated to the Knoxville area when as yet he was a very young man and has been offering chiropractic services in the area for six years. Before ever opening the doors to his office he knocked on 11,000 doors in Knoxville and raised a few calls to the police. In fact said Dr. Pete, "Because people didn't know what to think I was pulled over by 14 police officers and a few FBI agents during that time." In short time, however, the police became aware of who he was and in some cases helped him.

When the doors to the chiropractic clinic did open it grew with astonishing speed. In the first year over one thousand people each week came to the clinic. It broke all records to become the most successful clinic of its kind anywhere in America. Over 75 people drive distances of better than one hour each week for treatment at the clinic.

Taking the "pro Active" approach Dr. Pete says that all his patients know that the clinic tries to address the cause of each disease, injury or malady to be able to treat it more effectively. Some of the better hospitals and clinics have come onboard with this kind of outlook and it is fast becoming the most comprehensive kind of treatment available.

The real shift from simple chiropractic care taken in Dr. Pete's clinic is that they make it well known to all their patients that they believe "God is the healer." How do his patients respond to this? The response constantly borders on the miraculous and often crosses the border when some people are healed from maladies and problems they have endured for years.

Prayer is always offered for the patients and the result is nothing less than spectacular. Dr. Pete says quite a few people with cancer, ms, paralyzed and with feeding tubes, seizures and people who have been given up on by other doctors come into the clinic and they are treated and ministered to.

Many miracles have happened like the man who came into the clinic with an oxygen breathing apparatus and a blood pressure count of 240 over 200. The man and his wife joined in the Doctors prayer and later called to say that the breathing eased up and the blood pressure had dropped to 120 over 90!

Probably one of the most inspiring of all outcomes at the Sulack clinic is when people have walked out of the clinic and sat in their cars and wept. Then they return to the office saying they cannot leave until they have the Jesus that the Doctor has told them about.

Alcoholics, drug abusers, homosexuals, and people with all of this world's vices and problems have come to the clinic. Many go away with an entirely new direction in life. This perhaps is the greatest miracle of all.

God loves new life, not just the kind seen in childbirth but also the kind seen in the "rebirth" of fully grown adults. God's love for new life is best seen in a verse spoken by the apostle Paul and it summarizes why this is so important to God and so needful for mankind.

Paul wrote "Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new." (2Cor 5: 17)

This is the first part of a series of articles I am writing to reveal the amazing ministries of Dr. Pete Sulack and the Matthew 10 Ministries. Much, much more has begun from the clinics and it spans several continents. This being the first installment I urge the reader to search online for the Matthew Ten Ministries if you just can't wait.

Governments Offer Light Bulb Grants for Changing Over to New Technology

Have all the changes in light bulb technology left you in the dark? Never fear, because governments around the world are working hard to provide not only information, but money. Financial assistance in the forms of grants and tax incentives provide homeowners and businesses alike a chance to make a change to greener, more cost-effective lighting - and other technologies.

Did you know that over 30% of the average homeowner's electric bill only covers the cost of lighting? For most traditional homes using incandeescent, or Edison-style light bulbs, much of that high use of wattage actually escapes in the form of heat.

By contrast, newer lighting technologies such as Compact Fluorescent Lighting (CFL's) and Light Emitting Diodes (LED) burn less heat, and less money.

What is the Purpose of Offering Grants?
Global trends in greening practices and increasing energy efficiency, as well as economic challenges, compel governments to cut back on waste.

Because change sometimes comes too slowly, governments create programs to not only inform societies, but to provide incentives for people to get over that hurdle of technical innovation.

Plans for distribution of CFL and LED bulbs exist in order to create a more environmentally-friendly and cost-effective trend on a large scale.

Just as a powerful river conists of small drops moving in the same direction, society can help itself along through offering these grants and incentives to people complacent with the familiar, inefficient incandescent bub.

What Kind of Grants are Available?
Grants come in sizes large and small, and even pocket-sized. While some cover specific energy-use transitions, others provide for more general energy-conversions around properties both commercial and domestic. These might cover half a build project cost or involve broader additions to properties, such as conversions to wind power, solar voltaics, wood pellet heating systems, and more.

While property owners can apply for multiple grants per technology, a single grant's per household cap might limit their access. For example, a grant program might cover various appliances with a maximum household limit. However, new grant programs continue to be offered at the national, state and county level.

Who is Eligible to Get Light Bulb Grants?
Often given on a first-come, first-served basis, grant programs award everyone from the corporation to the little old lady down the street. However, in the US, federal agencies, nonprofit organizations and Federally Funded R&D Center Contractors operate under a different set of tax codes.

Grant offers vary between regions; not only are governments offering them, but also private corporations, such as major light bulb manufacturers. Therefore eligibility depends upon the conditions of each particular grant. From the elderly to the poor, to the construction company and major office building, such financial and equipment incentives hold promise.

What Are the Differences in Light Bulb Technology?
Incandescents are the traditional bulbs which burn hot using a fragile tungsten filament.
These are the cheapest, most common and least energy-efficient way to light a property. Over time they are also the costliest.

CFL's utilize fluorescent lighting techniques to burn cooler and use less energy doing so. Since they are priced slightly above incandescents, you can find them occupying more and more lighting spaces around the home, city and country.

LED's represent the wave of the future. Solid state electronic diodes, these durable, highly-efficient lights can be created in a rainbow of dazzling colors. While higher in cost, their longterm life spans and high efficiency make them a clear longterm better choice.

Is Applying for a Light Bulb Grant Difficult?
Of course applying for any grant involves establishing eligibility according to various criteria, and can sometimes be a confusing process.

The process can consist of multiple steps or stages, as well as assessment of unique individual circumstances.

When you combine these sometimes involved procedures with the wide array of available grant offers from so many different agencies, it might daunt someone from even trying to obtain one.

However don't let that stop you. Not only do government offices work hard to simplify the process as much as possible for the general populace, but other private grant-assisting agencies provide services to help make the process as painless as possible.

What Other Energy-Saving Grants Are Available?
Some grants contain a package of energy saving techniques into a single grant. Some might include:

Insulation
Heating
CFL Lighting
Conversion to solid-state lighting
Hot water tanks
Energy-saving plant and machinery
Fireplace conversions
Timing Control for space and water heating
Carbon Dioxide emissions reduction
Water conservation
Providing Energy Advice
Free light bulb offers
Solar Voltaics
Ground/Air source heat pumps
Small Hydro
Wind Turbines
Free Light Bulbs

Whether it improves energy consumption on a small or large scale, a grant probably exists to cover it.

How Do I Know If I'm Eligible to Receive a Government Grant for Energy Savings?
"Fuel Poverty" indicates a good candidate for household grant awardees. Grant eligibility sometimes goes to people who:

Are on income support
Receive housing benefits
Receive other government allowances such as
disability
Are on war pensions
Receive child tax credits
Are on welfare
Are on other pension or state support credits

From the local level to national, and from households to factories, build projects to alternative fuels, a grant exists to cover your transition to energy-saving technology. Research municipal, county, state or national government websites for more specific information for your needs; rest assured it probably exists, waiting for your application.

Are There Any Small Scale Offers Available?
The answer is simply, certainly. Some governments work with energy product companies to create incentive programs and promotional offers that benefit the average consumer. Such offers might promote a conversion to compact fluorescent lighting, for instance.

These types of bulbs can benefit the elderly, who may not have changed out their old bulbs for years (indeed, some incandescents can burn for centuries). Daunted by the initial cost of replacement, they may balk at the task of making the change. However when the lighting bill arrives, they soon sing a different tune.

What Kind of Savings Can New Lighting Provide?
To compare light bulb savings, you would have to consider various costs: initial purchase costs, energy usage amounts and costs, bulb lifetime hours, as well as the number of replacement bulbs you would have to buy over a period of time.

Generally speaking, incandescents are the cheapest to buy and most expensive to run, and need replacing the most often. CFL's cost slightly higher, rarely need to be replaced, and can cost a third of the incandescent over its life. LED's are more expensive (though inevitably will come down in price); they require almost no replacing, but and will cost about half the price of the incandescent for the first decades; after that, they beat out all others hands down. In terms of energy use, LED's reign supreme.

Why Are Governments Around the World Phasing Out Incandescent Bulbs?
In order to cut social energy costs and overdependence on existing energies, governments in the EU, North America, Australia and Asia promote a widespread shift away from incandescents - sometimes to the chagrin of their populaces.

Their purposes can be attributed to increased environmental awareness, as well as developed economic realities. New light bulb grants and the like exist in order to ease populations into better energy usage habits.

Of course, manufacturers benefit as well. Economies can be stimulated with a transition to a new technology; however if this is the purpose, it can't last for long. New bulb technologies require so little replacing that any economic gain from using them will be washed out in the decades it takes for a CFL or LED to "burn out".

Whether you're facing another cold winter, building a new home, upgrading an older home, developing a new building project, or living alone with a hot plate and a single bulb, a government grant probably waits for you to take advantage. Converting your home from incandescent light bulbs to CFL or LED might seem expensive at first blush; but with a little incentive to try it, you'll soon find the process easy, familiar and painless.

You'll likely wonder why you hadn't tried it before now. So take advantage of the financial assistance and make a change in your bank account and in the environment.

Why Do People Procrastinate

It is extremely common for us to put off doing something simply because we are too lazy to do so. However, procrastination goes beyond that. It is a habitual and intentional act to delay doing or completing their responsibilities, and over time, can have severe negative impact on the person’s life. Their overall wellbeing suffers as well, as feelings of guilt, inadequacy, stress and depression may kick in.

Why do people procrastinate then? More often than not, people procrastinate not because they are lazy. There are many causes and reasons for procrastination, and below we shall discuss a few of the more common ones. By understanding the reason and the emotions behind your procrastination, you can then go about getting rid of this bad habit.

Perfectionism

Some people have unrealistically high standards and expectations, and this causes them to procrastinate as they feel that they do not have the skills and abilities that are needed to complete it satisfactorily. They are afraid of attempting it, and not doing it perfectly, hence they make excuses that they need to acquire more knowledge before they can attempt it. The best way to break out of this cycle is to tell yourself that you can do it, and the task is easier than what you think it is. Or perhaps, you need to speak to your superior to draw up accurate and realistic level of expectations.

Anger

This occurs when you find yourself avoiding the task, or simply refusing to complete it. The cause of this could be an argument with your superior, or your teacher or project team. The feelings of anger and resentment against them can translate into an unwillingness to do what they have assigned you to. Another common reason for procrastination could be the anger felt at having the task forced upon you, when you are either unwilling or uninterested in it, and have expressed so and been ignored. This would cause feelings of resentment and result in avoidance.

Negative Thinking

These are the people who constantly harbour thoughts that they are not good enough, or that they always fail, and are probably just stupid and incapable. This kind of negative thinking makes it difficult for them to attempt projects, especially important ones as they feel so inadequate that they should not even be doing a task of this magnitude or importance. The root cause of this form of thinking could be previous failures, or abrasive and abusive comments from people around them, causing them to be labelled with their own inadequacies and perceived shortcomings.

Hence, there are many different reasons why people tend to procrastinate, and this is a bad habit that many people are guilty of. There is a difference between being momentarily lazy, and procrastinating as a habit. By identifying the reason for your procrastination, you will be able to eliminate it and finally get your work done on time.
